Here is the process of setting-up the system.  First, the mobile phone must be paired.  Next, set the transmission into a park mode then start the car ignition.  Shift the position of the climate control, which is situated in the car ceiling, to make sure it is facing away to the microphones.  This is important to help minimize noise and help the system recognize voice prompt.  Now you can locate the hands – free button, it is located in the lower left side of the steering wheel.  By pressing and then releasing the button, make a voice command saying “phone set – up” after the beep. Then, in the multi-information display “phone set –up” will appear.  A list of available commands will then be shown the system.  Press and release the button and then say “pair”. When the system recognizes the voice, it will prompt a four digit code that would be encoded in the phone. HandsFreeLink® would be in discovery mode and then continue to the pairing process. Each phone requires different procedures for pairing; please refer to the phone manual to serve as a guide for set –up.  When the system is then recognized by the phone, type in the four digit code required. The system would let you name the device. Press and release the talk button and say the name.  This completes the procedure for setting up the Bluetooth® HandsFreeLink® to your personal phone.

The procedure can be repeated for several phones but remember that six phones can be paired with the Bluetooth® HandsFreeLink®.  This is to serve different driver however it can’t be used all at the same time.

The Insurance Institute for Highway Safety (IIHS) and the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) recently awarded the all new 2011 Honda Odyssey with the 2011 TOP SAFETY PICK and a 5 Star rating 2011 Honda Odyssey at Vista Hondafrom the Overall Vehicle Score respectively under their own individual testing guidelines.

The award is another historic milestone for the Odyssey as no other minivan has received both awards for this year.

IIHS’ award is the agency’s highest honor that recognizes vehicles for its capability to protect its occupants from all angles in case of a car crash like front, rear and side crashes. It is also included the rollover performance based on the standard set by IIHS as well as the more thorough roof strength test and having a standard electronic stability control system. With all these tests, the Odyssey passed it all with flying colors.

Aside from taking the TOP SAFETY PICK award, the Honda Odyssey became one of the first vehicles to be awarded by the NHTSA with the best possible OVS of 5 Stars.

The OVS is recent addition of the federal government’s New Car Assessment Program (NCAP) that had just been implemented to all 2011 models. The Odyssey got the nod of the agency after it hurdled all tests with the best possible 5 star rating. Tests like frontal crash safety test and the both sides safety tests all got a 5 star rating. For the rollover test, the Odyssey managed to achieved a four star rating.

Such recognition won’t be possible without the Odyssey’s exclusive Advanced Compatibility Engineering (ACE) body structure that protects its occupants from crashes. The ACE design uses a system of connected structural elements that evenly distribute crash energy throughout the front of the Odyssey.

This crash energy management helps reduce the impact to the passenger compartment. Furthermore, Odyssey is equipped with standard safety equipment like its Vehicle Stability Assist or VSA, a three row side curtain airbags with rollover sensor, a dual stage multiple threshold front airbags, driver’s front side airbag and a front passenger side airbag.

Truly, the all new 2011 Honda Odyssey is your All American vehicle, having been designed, engineered and manufactured right at their Honda Manufacturing of Alabama using local and globally sourced parts, and is readily available at Vista Honda in Ventura, California.
